Naturopathy - The Main Principles

Primum non nocere - First do no harm

Naturopathy uses only natural means, without counteracting the functioning of the body.

Screw medicatix naturae  - Nature is  healer

The naturopath improves, strengthens and stimulates the natural self-healing capacities specific to each person.

Tolle causam  - Identify the cause

The role of the naturopath is not to try to act on the symptom but to go back to the cause of the pathology and to act on the latter in order to restore the natural balance.

Docere  - Teach

The naturopath teaches his patient the rules of functioning of his body and teaches him to take care of it in a natural way. The rules of vital hygiene concern all areas of life and consider the interactions that exist between the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes.

Supporting these 4 pillars, the naturopath has multiple techniques that he uses in synergy, always as part of a cure. The 3 major, fundamental techniques are nutrition , physical exercise and mental management . A naturopathic consultation necessarily includes recommendations in these 3 areas.

Les Grands Principes

Naturopathy for infants, children, adolescents - Why?

Every child, from infant to adolescent is different.

At each age, its ailments.

At each age, its diet.

At each age, its lifestyle.

Babies and young children can benefit greatly from naturopathy, which is the "art" of maintaining a healthy being, both physically and mentally, free from chemicals. Children have a very important vital force which allows them most of the time to heal themselves, if they are allowed to evolve freely in a healthy environment (food, sleep, ventilation, healthy and positive family life, etc.).

Baby food, from birth to food diversification, then of the child he will become, and finally of the adolescent, plays a primordial role in his psychomotor development and his future life.

Indeed, we now know that the digestive system (now called the second brain) is closely linked to the immune system.

The naturopathic consultation, provides advice adapted to each situation to support your child in the  day-to-day :

  • ENT disorders,  digestive,  urinary

  • Allergies, acne

  • Sleep disturbances, fatigue, migraine

  • Attention deficit disorder, excitability and hypersensitivity, ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity)

  • Autism spectrum disorders, emotional disturbances

  • Support for food diversification

The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child's life. Breastfeeding is the ideal nutritional form for infants. However, when moms cannot breastfeed or choose not to breastfeed, formula feeding may be a very valid choice. All it takes is love, sensitivity. , attention and communication.  There is a wide variety of milk formulas also including the “bio-vegetable” option.

Support your baby's dietary diversification: switching from an exclusively milk-based diet to a diversified diet is no easy task. When to start at 4 or 6 months? What foods to offer and when? Are there any allergenic foods to avoid?  What quantities to give? What textures? What kitchen equipment?

In consultation, you will find concrete answers to these questions and especially the simple and clear outlines to accompany your baby towards the discovery of food with pleasure and thus build a healthy relationship with food.

Strengthen immunity and support the first steps in the community: When entering nursery or kindergarten, when winter arrives or when the seasons change, colds, ear infections and bronchitis set in repeatedly . As much as it is quite normal for children to build their acquired immunity in contact with their environment, it is also important to ensure that they adopt a lifestyle that allows them to have optimal immunity: a non-deficient diet, a rhythm of life that is not a source of stress and fatigue and finally work on the intestinal microbiota.

The consultations allow parents to fully understand how to adopt good gestures for their children.

Child

For children, the primary objective is to gradually teach them simple and fun tools that they can later use on their own. Education is therefore important and they are generally very active and very active, but patience and imagination must be shown to adapt the tools and make them fun.

For the growth of children, from an early age, it is fundamental that their food hygiene is respected. Indeed, it is in their diet that children will find the energy they need. It is also thanks to good food and lifestyle hygiene that they will build up their present and future health capital. It is to help you accompany your children on this path that naturopathy can help you.

A child is a reservoir full of energy all the time, all the time “to the bottom” for everything, whether for his enthusiasm for discovering the world, or for expressing his illnesses. His immune system is in full development. This is why it is particularly reactive to external aggressions. Thus, children can be confronted with acute illnesses which sometimes manifest themselves violently. But, despite these manifestations, a child, like any human being, has the capacity within him to heal naturally.

Naturopathy will trust this self-healing capacity rather than hiding the symptoms with chemical drugs and will rather stimulate the ability of children to repel external aggressions in a natural way. This is where naturopathy plays a real role in preventing disease. Indeed, if the child is in full possession of his vital force, he will naturally know how to defend himself against germs.

Good food hygiene therefore helps children to have good immune defenses. In addition, their schooling will not be disturbed by recurrent or chronic pathologies such as eczema, digestive problems, ENT diseases, stress, hyperactivity, etc.… But not only! Indeed, they will sleep better, will have better concentration too. Indeed, nourishing his child conscientiously, offering him a healthy lifestyle as well (quality of sleep, regular contact with nature, etc.) will give him all the fertile ground he needs to grow serenely.

Prevent or manage allergies and  food intolerances:

WHO predicts that by 2050, 1 in 2 people in the world will suffer from allergies. We are indeed witnessing a resurgence of allergies, the rate of which is constantly increasing, especially in industrialized countries.

• Nearly 30% of the world population today suffer from allergies (respiratory, food, skin, etc.) against 3.8% in 1968. Food allergies, particularly frequent in young children, have been steadily increasing in recent times. years. In France, the number of people suffering from an allergy has doubled in 20 years, and in particular among children and adolescents. 8% of children and 4% of the adult population suffer from a food allergy.

• In France, asthma, a respiratory disease caused by an abnormal contraction of the bronchial muscles and inflammation of the mucous membranes often linked to allergies, affects nearly 4 million people, a third of whom are under 15 years of age. In less than 20 years, the number of adolescents with asthma has increased by over 40%.

• In the United States, hay fever (allergic rhinitis) is diagnosed in 17.9 million adults, or about 7.8% of the population.

• Food allergies are more common in children than in adults: 4.7% of children under the age of five, and 3.7% of children between the ages of five and 17 suffer from it. Women suffer slightly more from food allergies than men (4.1% vs. 3.8%).

Some of these allergies can be prevented with a suitable diet for pregnant and breastfeeding women, but also by avoiding certain errors when dietary diversification for the baby. Work on the intestinal microbiota in children and adolescents complements dietary precautions. Finally, knowledge of the allergens contained in the preparations, in particular the additives, is a determining factor. All of these points can be addressed during consultations.

Teenager

For adolescents, the way of approaching their problem is different, the stake is to interest them, to see them questioning, and to make them responsible on concrete topics which directly affect them.

Finding a balanced diet: more and more children and teenagers are overweight. This is due to an unbalanced diet, but not only eating behavior, sedentary lifestyle, stress and lack of sleep are all factors that can influence weight gain.

For them, especially no diet, it is above all food education.

We work on the knowledge of foods and their role, the exploration of tastes and flavors, on feelings of hunger, thirst, satiety… and finally on the balance of the rhythms of life between activities and rest.

Relieve stress and regain peaceful, restful sleep: We often tend to say “he sleeps like a baby” to refer to deep, restful sleep, but more and more children and adolescents are experiencing high levels of stress. stresses that disrupt their sleep and rhythm of life. There are plenty of reasons: exam periods, physiological changes ...

It is essential for them to learn simple techniques for a return to calm: breathing, self-massage and relaxation techniques are all simple gestures that can contribute to this in addition to work on their rhythms of life.
